FAQ
Before you ask —
we probably have.
Don't see your question? Drop us a line or call (540) 869-8482.
Are dogs welcome?
Absolutely. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome everywhere on the farm — indoors and out. The patio water bowls stay full.
Can I bring the kids?
Yes — Backroom Brewery is a family-friendly working farm. Kids are welcome with their adults, and there's plenty of open space to roam. We just ask that little ones stay supervised around the farm areas.
What are your hours?
Wednesday–Thursday 12–7 pm, Friday–Saturday 12–8 pm, Sunday 12–7 pm; closed Monday and Tuesday. Hours can shift for holidays and private events — see Visit Us or our social media for same-day updates.
Do you serve food?
The kitchen serves daily in the Main Taproom — pub fare with farm-fresh ingredients, plus Virginia wine, cider, and non-alcoholic options. See Food & Beverages for the full picture.
Do you take reservations?
The taproom is first-come, first-served for everyday visits. Bringing a big group? Give us a call at (540) 869-8482 and we'll help you plan — or book the space properly through Private Events.
Can I book a wedding or private event?
That's what the Big Barn was born for — a timber-framed venue for up to 250 guests, with the gazebo patio and the Massanutten as your backdrop. Planning a wedding? Start at Weddings; for rehearsal dinners, retreats, birthdays, and private parties, see Private Events — or email hello@backroombrewery.com.
Is there parking?
Yes — free parking on site, with room for a full Saturday crowd.
Where exactly are you?
150 Ridgemont Rd, Middletown, VA 22645 — at the northern gateway to the Shenandoah Valley, minutes from Winchester, Front Royal, and Skyline Drive. Directions on the Visit Us page.
I'm hiking nearby — are you worth the detour?
We were practically built for it. The farm sits about 15 minutes from Skyline Drive's northern entrance at Front Royal, an easy hop from Shenandoah National Park trailheads and the Appalachian Trail. Post-hike pints, hot food from the kitchen, room to sprawl on the patio — and your trail dog is welcome too.
What's on tap right now?
25+ rotating recipes brewed with hops and herbs grown on the farm — see Draft Beers for the kind of lineup to expect, or check Facebook for today's exact pours.
Can I get beer to go?
Ask at the bar — to-go availability varies with what's pouring. Call (540) 869-8482 before you make the trip and we'll tell you what's available that day.
Do you have gluten-free or non-alcoholic options?
Yes — alongside the beer we pour Virginia wine and cider (naturally gluten-free) plus a rotating zero-proof lineup, so everyone in the group has a glass. See Food & Beverages for the current list.
Is the farm wheelchair accessible?
The taproom and grounds sit on a working farm, so terrain varies. Call (540) 869-8482 before your visit and we'll help you plan the easiest route in.
How far are you from Washington, DC or Winchester?
About 75 minutes from the DC Beltway, 15 minutes from Winchester, and 20 from Front Royal — take I-81 to Exit 302, or I-66 west toward Front Royal. Turn-by-turn on the Visit Us page.
